Introduction

Ferromanganese is an alloy with high percentage of manganese, which is made by heating a mixture of oxides, MnO2 and Fe2O3 with high carbon content in blast furnace or an electric arc furnace-type system. The oxides go through carbothermal reduction in the furnaces that result in producing Ferromanganese. Ferromanganese is used as deoxidizer and desulfurizer for production of steel .

Application

In casting industry: ferromangano added to cast iron can be used as inoculant and nodulating agent of ductile iron, and can prevent the formation of carbide, promote the precipitation of graphite greatly shorten the nodulating time, but also can greatly reduce the form of impurities in hot metal, improve the quality of cast iron, improve the performance of cast iron.
